A consummate psychotherapist, Joelle Jacobson, L.M.F.T., P.P.S. licensed in California offers her professional expertise spanning over two decades in the field. She has worked with adolescents, young adults and their families in diverse settings including private practice, educational institutions, and dual-diagnosis treatment programs. Joelle holds a specialization in trauma and substance use disorder, guiding her clients toward transformative growth and recovery.
Grounded in a trauma-informed approach, Joelle integrates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing into her therapeutic practice. Recognizing the nuanced needs of her clients, she expanded her expertise to include BrainPaint® Neurofeedback and Brainspotting, offering alternative pathways to healing, complementing or substituting traditional talk therapy when indicated.
In addition to her clinical work, Joelle facilitates access to ethical and effective treatment programs at
all levels of care, along with ancillary supportive services, ensuring individuals and their loved ones receive the comprehensive care they deserve. She provides invaluable support throughout the treatment journey,
assisting her clients in navigating the discharge process while they are in their program, in conjunction with establishing post-treatment support systems for continuity of care and sustained success.
Drawing on her innate connection to animals, Joelle often incorporates emotional support dogs as a way of reducing anxiety, elevating mood and providing comfort for her clients. She has seen repeatedly how working with animals triggers positive physiological changes that manifest in a more calm and engaged client presentation.
Passionate about mental health advocacy, Joelle is called on for media interviews as an expert in the field. She is a respected voice in educational and corporate settings, where she addresses topics related to mental health, substance use disorder and trauma. Joelle lends her expertise as a script consultant, ensuring accurate
representation of those same issues portrayed in the media, reinforcing her commitment to broader societal awareness and understanding.
Joelle Jacobson is professionally affiliated with the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT).
